The house is due for completion early 2013 and features antiqued exposed timber trusses, stone flooring, timber joinery and a solerati clay tile roof. Bellwood House – Kamo, Northland

Orientated on site to maximise early morning solar gains, the polished concrete floor is heavily insulated to ensure the house retains all this free warmth. The floor slowly dissipates this heat throughout the day. The 270m2 design was simplified to just fourteen concrete panels which enabled all concrete panels to be erected in just one day. We shall continue to push the boundaries. We are committed to looking at other building forms and techniques and to reducing the impact of building on the environment. As an in-house experimental project we are trialling many new and innovative ideas on this project which could considerably lower the carbon footprint of residential homes.
